Hallgarten Startplatz 1

Hallgarten Startplatz 1 is a south-facing launch in the Rheingau at around 278 m, open to guest pilots who first get a briefing and usage permission from the site operator. Species-protection rules apply across the site, and the launch area needs to be kept mowed and prepared before flying starts each season. Minimum safety heights over buildings, roads and power lines have to be maintained throughout every flight, and if a pilot doesn't find lift after launching, the plan is to leave the ridge in good time, with enough height in hand, to reach the landing safely. There's a second launch nearby, Startplatz 2, which can only be used when there's enough lift to guarantee reaching the landing, and its immediate launch area has to be kept clear of parked cars. Tandem flights aren't permitted at this site.
