Höllenberg

Höllenberg is a German launch reached on foot, set in a forest clearing at about 450 m and best flown on a westerly wind. Local paragliding volunteers put real effort into preparing the launch a few years back, and a number of nature-conservation rules apply here as a result. The main one to know: the area around the Großer and Kleiner Rauchberg is off-limits to overflight, protecting local peregrine falcons — the exact protection zone is marked on an official map that's part of the site permit and gets reviewed by the regional conservation authority every year. That no-fly zone and its conditions are posted at both the launch and landing areas, and every pilot gets briefed on the details and the local terrain by the site holder before flying.
