Where it is
Irgersdorf is a south-facing launch at about 435 m in Saxony's Oberlausitz region, reached on foot from public parking in the village — private driveways stay clear, and cars at the upper lot park crosswise along the meadow edge by agreement with the landowner. First-time visitors are strongly encouraged to get a briefing from a club pilot or a local flying school before flying here. Wind from around 180° needs real caution: lee turbulence builds at the landing field from that direction, and it gets noticeably worse once wind speed passes 20 km/h — the comfortable window is closer to 140–180°. A game reserve borders the site to the west, and entering or landing in it is strictly forbidden, with real liability for any damage caused. Grazing livestock in the launch area means no flying at all; when animals are fenced off between launch and landing instead, flying continues but with extra care. Winch-towing is no longer permitted here at all, flying schools need separate consent from both the landowner and the operating club, and any lasting disturbance to protected bird species can bring further flying restrictions.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Irgersdorf, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Irgersdorf with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
