Stankovka

Stankovka is a soaring site just outside Prague, easily spotted from the road between Radotín and Černošice, working east through south wind at a modest 370 m. This is not a beginner's launch: the takeoff area is tight, there's little room to abort a launch attempt once you've committed, and it only really works when the wind is genuinely blowing — being a confident, skilled pilot matters more here than at more forgiving sites. The approach cuts through scrubby vegetation with thorny acacia bushes, so pilots who've flown it before recommend bringing gloves and something to clear a path. Access works two ways: drivers wind up a series of turns from Radotín toward Karlštejn, past an old sand pit, finishing on a track that's genuinely hard to describe precisely without having driven it before; walkers instead get off at Černošice station, head back toward Radotín, and climb a ravine on a marked tourist trail up to the ridge, joining the launch from the side.

The takeoff is tight, with limited room to abort once committed — this site is for skilled, confident pilots, not beginners, and it only really works when it's genuinely windy. Acacia scrub lines the approach, so gloves are worth bringing.
