Langer Berg

Langer Berg is a west/southwest-facing hill launch at about 309 m, with just under 150 m of height above the landing field — a modest slope that local pilots use as a good place to start cross-country flying rather than a big mountain descent. The landing area, Langer Berg Landeplatz, sits directly below. The site carries a set of nature-conservation conditions worth knowing before you fly: fruit trees on the neighbouring parcel must not be disturbed, and pilots are asked to fly as high as possible over the surrounding hedgerow landscape, particularly during the bird breeding season from 1 April to 31 July. The landing area is kept deliberately small so it doesn't encroach on the hedges, fallow land and orchard habitat around it — including wild orchid populations that the local conservation authority actively manages here. None of this changes how the site flies day to day, but it does explain why the landing zone is tight and why low passes over the hedges are discouraged.
