Where it is

winchFlatland XC

Liebschützer Berg is a winch-tow flying site in Saxony, Germany, at around 190 m, working wind from the east or west. Like most flatland winch fields, it sits on farmland rather than a hill, and the ground rules here reflect that: cars have to stay in designated parking areas rather than pulling onto the surrounding fields, and pilots are expected to pack out any rubbish once flying wraps up for the day. Two opposite wind directions give the tow line flexibility, so there's usually a workable heading rather than a single narrow window. It's a straightforward, low-altitude site set up more for regular local flying and towing practice than for a big cross-country day — the kind of field where good etiquette with the surrounding farmland keeps the arrangement working for everyone who flies there.

Local rules & hazards

Vehicles may only park in the designated areas, not on the surrounding agricultural land, and any rubbish from flying operations must be properly disposed of afterward.

Check conditions before you fly

A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Liebschützer Berg, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Liebschützer Berg with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
