Where it is

winchFlatland XC

Menzenschwand – Brühl is a flatland winch-tow site in the southern Black Forest, Baden-Württemberg, flyable from six different directions (east through south, southwest, west and northwest) thanks to a tow line of over 1,000 m. A training slope sits right next to it, which pairs well with the tow operation for pilots working on both skills. The winch itself must be set up on the paved section of the access road to the Möslelift area, and the tow cable can only be reeled back out by bicycle or a quiet moped — recreational visitors and onlookers must never be disturbed or put at risk. Landing is only permitted at the already-approved site near the Möslelift outrun, by the windsock; the surrounding wet meadows are a protected biotope and must be avoided. Flying is restricted to 9:00–20:00, capped at 60 flying days a year with a logged flight book, and the northern part of one nearby parcel is off-limits to overflight entirely — flying stays inside the area marked on the site's approved map.
