Obereichstätt Startplatz 1

Obereichstätt Startplatz 1 is the south-facing counterpart to the site's second launch nearby, sharing the same large, simple meadow character in the Altmühl valley, Bavaria, but catching south or southwest wind instead. Conditions are easy in light air and get genuinely turbulent once the wind builds, same as its neighbour. Access follows the same club rules: guests can only launch with a member present, a €10 day membership applies, and current terms are posted on info boards right at launch. Nobody drives up to the takeoff itself — cars stay at one of two designated car parks, on the Schernfelder Straße or by the quarry, with the rest of the approach on foot. Flight schools with proper licensing can bring students here when the day suits training, as long as each student gets briefed on what makes this particular launch different first. The shared landing field lies across the river Altmühl east of the football pitch, so every approach has to clear the river with height to spare and respect a safety margin from the road running past the field.
