Obereichstätt Startplatz 2 has a large, simple launch meadow in the Altmühl valley, Bavaria, flown on southwest or west wind — straightforward in light conditions, but genuinely turbulent once the wind picks up. Access is deliberately gated: guest pilots can only launch when a club member is present, and a day membership costing €10 is required, with the current rules posted on info boards at launch. Vehicles stay well back — driving up to the launch areas isn't allowed at all, so everyone parks at one of two designated areas, on the Schernfelder Straße or at the quarry, and walks in. Licensed flight schools can run training here when conditions suit students, provided every student gets briefed on the site's particular quirks first. The landing field sits across the river Altmühl, east of the football pitch, so the approach has to clear the river with real height in hand and keep a safe distance from the nearby road on the way in.
