Startplatz Kandel (Kandel – West und Rampe)

Startplatz Kandel is one of the most popular flying sites in the southern Black Forest, launching from about 1,200 m on wind from south-west through west to north-west. It has both a hang-glider ramp and a paraglider launch on the meadow beside it, and a briefing is required before flying either way. This is a members-run site with real gatekeeping: paraglider launches next to the ramp are generally reserved for club members, and visiting guest paraglider pilots need a German B-license plus a sponsoring member under the site's mentorship rule — flight operations always run under a flight leader. Tandem flights are limited to club members only. A protection zone around a peregrine falcon nesting site must be respected, along with the site's own detailed local rules. Landing is at Landeplatz Heimeck, though the landing situation in nearby Glottertal can change at short notice, so only use the currently marked landing site and check before you fly. Pilots must keep at least 50 m clear of the road, and Kandel can be reached by scheduled bus.
