Gummen – Hütte – Kandel (Südstart – Oberer und Unterer Startplatz)

Gummen – Hütte – Kandel (South Launch) is one of the most popular flying sites in the southern Black Forest, at about 1,150 m in southern or southwest wind. There's a proper ramp for hang-gliders and a paragliding launch on the meadow beside it; a site briefing is required before you fly, flight operations always run under a flight director, and a German B-licence is required to fly here. The site has its own set of rules, built mainly around protecting a resident peregrine falcon nest — keep your distance from the eyrie at all times. Tandem flights are limited to club members only. Down in Glottertal, the landing situation can change at short notice, so fly the currently marked landing site only and keep at least 50 m clear of the road on approach. You can reach the Kandel launch by scheduled bus as well as by car.
