Campitello – Canazei – Belvedere

Belvedere sits at 2,340 m above Canazei di Fassa, reached by the Belvedere cable car from Canazei on the main road near the Marmolada camp. The launch works on S, SW, W and NW flow. From the south exit of the cable car, turn right and follow the ridge to the windsock at the W-NW-facing take-off. In winter it is NOT advisable to launch here — pilots use Col Rodella instead. Locally, from about 11:00 the Val di Fassa breeze strengthens gradually, so the W-NW-facing take-off is the safer option once the day builds. There is no landing near the Belvedere cable-car station — pilots use the same landings as Col Rodella, with the secondary landing (across the river at the beginning of Canazei) recommended.

Launch & conditions

From 11:00 onward the Val di Fassa breeze builds — use the W-NW-facing take-off, reached from the south exit of the cable car and along the ridge to the windsock. Pordoi Pass alternative: park at the pass and follow path 601 to 'col dei Rossi' for about an hour on foot. Winter launches from Belvedere are not advised; use Col Rodella instead.

Getting there & local rules

From Verona via the A22, exit at Egna/Ora and follow Val di Fassa via Cavalese, Moena, Predazzo up to Canazei di Fassa. From the Brenner Pass, exit at Chiusa/Val Gardena and follow Passo Sella through Ortisei and Selva to Canazei. The cable car is along the main road near the Marmolada camp. Recommended landing is the secondary LZ across the river at the beginning of Canazei — the main LZ near Col Rodella station has a power line crossing the normal approach.

Local rules & hazards

No powered paragliding permitted. Moderate winds from N or E in general make the area very dangerous and turbulent. Central hours in spring and summer (11:00–17:00) are for experienced pilots only. There is no landing near the Belvedere station — plan for the Col Rodella / Canazei landings before launch.
