Campitello – Canazei – Brodol

Brodol is the Val di Fassa launch used by locals when the Col Rodella cable car is closed, and for lovely evening flights any day of the week. At about 2,077 m and facing SW–W–NW, it sits on a winter ski piste with a soft, gradual slope and an exposure that's generous for setting up. Local wisdom calls Brodol the easiest and safest take-off in Val di Fassa. Less-experienced pilots fly beautiful morning flights before the thermic pump kicks in; thermic activity only starts in the early afternoon because of the exposure. Central hours in spring and summer (11:00–17:00) are for experienced pilots only. Moderate winds from N or E turn the whole zone dangerous and turbulent — avoid them. No powered paragliding permitted.

Launch & conditions

The launch is on a ski piste — soft gradient at the top, gradually steepening. Perfect exposure for pilots who want to lay out without pressure. Morning flights are the safer window; thermic activity only wakes up in early afternoon. In central hours, the flow can turn strong quickly — advanced pilots only. If N or E winds are on the day's forecast, save the day.

Getting there & local rules

From Verona A22, exit at Egna/Ora and follow signs for Valle di Fassa via Cavalese, Moena, Predazzo up to Campitello di Fassa. From the Brenner Pass, exit at Chiusa/Val Gardena and follow signs for Passo Sella via Ortisei and Selva di Val Gardena, then continue to Canazei and up 2 km to Campitello. The main landing is about 200 m east of the Col Rodella cable-car station, with a windsock on the west side — a power line crosses the normal approach path, so keep it in mind. A secondary landing sits across the river at the beginning of Canazei.
