Vestre Bråten Grimsland, Risør (PPG)

Vestre Bråten Grimsland, near Risør on Norway's southern coast, is a paramotor-only field — no free-flying launch. The runway is a flat 300+ m grass strip inside class G airspace, with the owner (himself a PPG pilot) living at the west end of the field. PPG pilots are welcome any time, appointment or not, and the same goes for helicopters, ultralights and any aircraft that can safely handle a short field. It also works as a fuel stopover on long-distance flights — call ahead to make sure someone's around for gas and oil. Because the field is surrounded by hills, lee rotors are a real concern in stronger winds.

PPG only — no free-flying launch. 300+ metre flat grass field. Owner is a PPG pilot and lives at the west end of the field.

Getting there & local rules

Åkvågveien 180, 4950 Risør. The site is about 2 km east of Laget and 4 km west of Sørlandet Feriesenter. Look for the windsock in the field on the north side of the road when you're close.

Local rules & hazards

Class G airspace, altitude cap 2,895 m AMSL (FL95). Beware lee rotor in strong winds — the field is ringed by hills. The neighbour lends her land to make room for safer south-west takeoffs; a small thank-you gesture (wine, chocolate, flowers or just a friendly smile) is customary and keeps the arrangement working.
