Season

The main season runs from spring to autumn, and November is the tail of it. Winter flying is possible on good days: in our data, 90% of middays were dry in November and December and 71% to 77% from January to March, against 90% to 100% from June to September. Midday wind at launch was light, 4 to 9 km/h.

Flying

Launches are at about 1,200 m (used when the top is in cloud), 1,700 m (the huge main launch), and higher north and south launches around 1,800 to 1,960 m. You land on Belcekız Beach at sea level, or fly to Butterfly Valley. Solo pilots are the exception and tandems have priority at launch, so expect to wait.

Practical facts

Cable car
The 1,200 m and 1,700 m launches are reached directly by cable car.[1]
Registration
Since 2022 every pilot must register flights online and show a QR boarding pass at the cable car. Fees are charged for the cable car and for each takeoff; check current prices locally.[3]
Getting there
Dalaman airport is 1 to 1.5 hours away by taxi or shuttle bus.[1]
Weather on the hill
Screens at the upper station show live weather on the mountain.[1]

Hazards

  • Crosswind at launch happens; do not judge conditions by the tandems, which fly in almost everything.[1]
  • Very busy air with many tandems and acro pilots.[1]
