Rada Tilly

Rada Tilly is a coastal soaring site on Argentina's Patagonian coast, with a low ridge launch at about 148 meters that sits above the beach near Punta del Marqués. You reach it by driving toward Punta del Marqués and following the road up to the top of the hill, where the takeoff comes into view. This is a wind-direction site above all else: it only works safely with easterly wind, specifically NNE through ENE — anything outside that narrow window isn't flyable here, so check your forecast carefully before committing to the drive. When it's on, the ridge gives clean coastal soaring with the ocean right below you. Landing is flexible: you can top-land back at the takeoff, or simply fly down and land on the beach if conditions and the tide allow. Patagonian coastal wind can be strong and consistent once it's blowing from the right quadrant, so this rewards pilots who are comfortable with brisk ridge-soaring conditions rather than light thermic days.
