Where it is
Gumma is a grass launch at 2,243 m in Austria's Lungau region, 100 m south of the summit, with a main wind direction of west and enough space to top-land comfortably. The site is flyable all year round. Getting there by car means the A10 motorway to St. Michael im Lungau, then toward Tamsweg and north to Lessach; on foot, follow the signs to the Wildbachhütte, which is open in season, and continue from there to the summit. Landing options sit on either side of the mountain: meadows around Göriach to the west, or around Lessach to the east, giving pilots a choice depending on which way the wind and the day's flight path take them.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Gumma, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Gumma with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
