Where it is

Hohe Munde Startplatz 2 is a demanding launch above the Inn valley near Telfs in Tyrol, Austria, reached from the 1,539 m summit area of Hohe Munde — a classic hike-and-fly objective for pilots who don't mind earning the flight on foot first. The takeoff itself is a cliff launch off a rock outcrop in a forest clearing, facing southeast to south, and it is not a beginner setup: the exposed rock, the narrow clearing and the need to commit cleanly off the edge make this a site for pilots who are already comfortable launching from technical terrain. Airspace restrictions apply in the area, so route planning matters as much as launch technique. The reward for the demanding start is a big view over the Inn valley and a straightforward glide down: the landing field at Telfs is large, open and visible from the highway long before a pilot gets there, which removes at least one variable from an otherwise serious day.

Cliff launch off a rock outcrop in a forest clearing, facing southeast to south — exposed and demanding, not a site to learn cliff launching on.

Getting there & local rules

Reached via a hike to the summit area of Hohe Munde, a popular hike-and-fly objective; airspace restrictions in the area mean route planning matters before launch.
