Where it is
Pridröf is a round mountain right in the center of Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria's Carinthia region, good for both spring and summer flying — though summer access is hike-and-fly only, with a walk of at least an hour to the top. In winter, the gondola gets pilots most of the way up, leaving just a short ten-minute walk to launch. The mountain offers three usable directions: east is the strongest launch, west works but is a little flat, and south also flies. There's no official flight site status here — it's tolerated rather than formally sanctioned, so treat the ground and the people around it with real respect. Avoid north wind altogether. Landing options spread around the base: Feld am See / Untertweng, or closer to Bad Kleinkirchheim itself near the Sonnwiesen chairlift or the Kaiserburg gondola base, though strong east wind isn't recommended there. An alternative launch, Hohensass near St. Peter/Radenthein, is worth knowing if Pridröf isn't working.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Pridröf, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Pridröf with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
