Where it is
Pacatuba's Ububu slope sits about 30 km from central Fortaleza in Brazil's Ceará state, with a grass ramp roughly 40 m wide and around 120–130 m of local relief above the surrounding flat plain. It's an easy, approachable launch — the wind direction here stays close to constant through most of the year, which is part of why local pilots rate it as flyable essentially year-round. Thermals tend to be soft and stay fairly localized rather than ripping through violently, and sudden, surprise rain isn't a typical problem at this site. Getting there usually means renting a car in Fortaleza and driving toward the Baturité region by map; locally, it's possible to arrange guidance and retrieval support on-site if you're new to the area. Between the gentle thermal character and the steady, predictable wind, this is a site that welcomes pilots across a range of experience levels rather than demanding advanced skills to enjoy.

A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Pacatuba, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Pacatuba with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
