Where it is
Buochserhorn is a summit thermal and hike-and-fly site in central Switzerland, with one of the more forgiving launches around: a big, gently sloping grass field right beside the large white summit cross, easy enough to handle in anything from south through west. There's a small cable crossing the field just below take-off, but it's clearly visible and easy to spot in daylight. Getting up is half the appeal — a cable car from the southeast side of Dallenwil to Niederrickenbach (around 7 CHF, including a small landing fee), then a well-marked, fairly obvious hike of up to two hours and about 700 m of climbing to the summit. Because the slope faces south, snow clears here noticeably earlier than on neighboring hills — pilots have hiked up in early April while nearby peaks at similar altitude still carried meters of snow.
Launch & conditions
A big, gently sloping grass launch beside the summit cross, easy to handle in south to west wind. Watch for a small, clearly visible cable crossing the field just below take-off.
Getting there & local rules

Local rules & hazards
The south-facing slope clears of snow noticeably earlier than surrounding hills, so it can be hikeable well before nearby peaks at similar altitude.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Buochserhorn, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Buochserhorn with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
