Crap Sogn Gion, above Flims-Laax in Graubünden, launches right outside the cable car station at 2,210 m — about as convenient a high-alpine take-off as it gets. It's a proper thermal, soaring and cross-country site, with strong hike-and-fly options too if you'd rather walk part of the way. Getting there is straightforward: take the cable car up from Murschetg (drive from Chur, through Flims, and follow the signs). In winter, landing is especially painless — the eight-seater gondola sits within easy walking distance of the landing zone at Murschetg, so getting back up for another lap doesn't cost much time. The one thing to plan around carefully is wildlife: several protected areas sit within this flying zone, and staying clear of them is a real, non-negotiable part of flying here responsibly. Föhn conditions are also a regular local factor worth watching.
