Where it is
Aiguille de Mex is a cross-country launch above Mex in Vaud, Switzerland, reached by train, then bus, then about ninety minutes on foot to the top. The launch sits on a narrow path threading between trees just below the summit, facing the valley, and only opens toward the east-northeast — there's no room for a tandem wing here, and the bushes and trees lining the takeoff path mean lines need real care on the way through. Once airborne, don't glide straight for the landing: cross the valley first, because the direct line runs into Bex airfield's airspace. Landing is down at Bex, about 480 m above sea level. This is a technical, obstacle-heavy launch rather than an easy walk-up — plan the line through the trees before you commit to it.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Mex Aiguille, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Mex Aiguille with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
