Dettelbach – Ost – West (Dettelbach Nord)

Dettelbach – Ost/West is a flatland winch-tow site in the Main valley near Würzburg, working in both east and west wind. The permit here comes with real ecological conditions attached: outlandings are off-limits across several sensitive areas, including the Dettelbachzug ridge to the east, the valley corridor toward Bibergau with its hedgerows, and any ground near hedges, field groves or nutrient-poor grassland — and two named nature reserves along the Main are completely closed to landings. Flying over the Main valley itself requires staying at least 300 m above the ground, a rule specifically there to protect birdlife. Flight operations have to wrap up an hour before sunset each day. It's a well-organized site once you know the boundaries — park only in the designated area, and take your rubbish with you.
