Where it is
Eschlkam is a training hill in the Bavarian Forest region of Germany, at about 509 m, run by the local paragliding club and used mainly by pilots working on practice flights. Access here is shaped closely around an agreement with local farmers: flying is only permitted between October and March, well outside the growing season, which keeps the site off-limits for the rest of the year. Getting there also comes with strict rules of its own — the field track running alongside the nearby sculpture trail may not be driven on at all, and parking is limited to the official public parking area for that trail. Parking in the meadow itself is firmly off-limits and will cause real friction with the landowners, so visiting pilots need to treat the parking rule as seriously as the flying-season one. As with any site run this closely with a farming community, coordinating with the club before a visit is expected rather than optional.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Eschlkam, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Eschlkam with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
