Where it is
Finkennest is a small training slope in Germany's Allgäu region, launching at 825 m with about 35 m of vertical drop on southwest-facing terrain. This is a school practice hill, not a site open to visiting pilots — flying here happens only within a paragliding school's own program, and outside guest flying is not possible. Even for the school, flying is capped at a maximum of 30 days a year with the landowner's consent, and a flight log has to be kept of every session. Launches are only permitted from the lower part of the slope on the relevant parcel; the upper slope, which is used for extensive agriculture, is off-limits to walk on or fly from. Flying and ground-handling practice must stay inside the marked training area, and pilots need to keep a clear distance from the nearby farmhouse and its fruit trees.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Finkennest, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Finkennest with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
