Übungshang Schwanden

Übungshang Schwanden is a German training slope at about 930 m, flown in light northerly wind — flight operations here only happen by prior arrangement with the site holder. Conditions have to suit student pilots: training flights are limited to light north wind, and every pilot needs a briefing on the slope's specifics and restrictions before flying. A farm access road runs along the slope, and pilots must keep a safe distance from it; flying from the upper part of the slope is only allowed once a pilot has mastered turning flight, since the road must never be overflown, and instructor and student need a working radio link during those flights. The landing area slopes downhill toward the road below it, so landings always need to be made to the side of the road with enough clearance.
