Where it is
Geba Plateau is a winch-tow flatland site in Germany at around 750 m, with a tow run of roughly 600 to 1,100 m and wind directions open from every point of the compass, which makes it a flexible spot for towing regardless of wind shift through the day. Because the tow line runs close to the road between Geba and Träbes, operators keep a minimum clearance from the road whenever the wind blows from the northwest, since a rope break in that direction could drift a falling tow parachute toward traffic; the exact clearance required scales with the wind speed aloft and is set out in the site's operating permit. Flying is run under the local operating rules for the Geba Plateau, which pilots are expected to follow. With its all-direction wind tolerance and dedicated winch infrastructure, it's a practical flatland option when hill sites aren't working.
Local rules & hazards
The tow line runs close to the Geba–Träbes road, so a minimum clearance from the road must be kept whenever wind comes from the northwest, in case a rope break drifts a falling tow parachute toward traffic — the required clearance scales with wind speed aloft, per the site's operating permit. Flying here follows the local Geba Plateau operating rules.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Geba Plateau, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Geba Plateau with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
