Where it is

Reichenhausen is a training slope in Germany's Rhön region, used by a local flight school and gliding club specifically for paraglider instruction — flown at about 550 m, best on a southerly wind. Before flying, always check in with the flight school running the site. Vehicles must not be parked on the protected, nutrient-poor grassland; the ascent to launch follows a hiking trail that starts at the war memorial, or alternatively goes up through the largely tree-free middle section of the slope. The row of bushes off the marked trails is off-limits — don't walk through it. This site is set up for paraglider training flights only; hang-glider flying isn't permitted here at all.

Check conditions before you fly

A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Reichenhausen, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Reichenhausen with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
