Where it is
Jägerberg is an east to southeast-facing launch at around 298 m in Thuringia's Mittleres Saaletal landscape protection area, where the terrain's low-key setting comes with real limits on how you fly it. A federal road runs close by and needs a minimum 50 m clearance both horizontally and vertically, and the same 50 m rule applies to a nearby railway line — two hard boundaries worth knowing before you commit to a line. The main landing field sits near a settled area, so the approach needs enough height to clear it comfortably rather than sneak in low. Every pilot gets briefed on the terrain's specifics before flying. The protected landscape status also means keeping hiking trails clear for walkers and leaving no trace — no littering, no disturbing the local habitat. Vehicle access and parking stay on public roads only; driving onto the surrounding fields isn't allowed.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Jägerberg, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Jägerberg with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
