Where it is
Nuttlar Sengenberg is a north/northeast-facing launch in the Sauerland at around 499 m, kept deliberately undeveloped by its permit conditions. Before regular flying can start, the launch and run-up path have to be completely obstacle-free, with any remaining tree stumps cleared out. Because the launch terrain is relatively flat, tandem flights need at least 10 km/h of headwind to go ahead. The site sits close enough to a federal motorway that pilots keep the required safety distance from it, and no motorized flying devices are used here at all. The permit is strict about keeping the site as it is: no grading, leveling or paving of the ground, no ramps, shelters, sheds, caravans or fixed furniture, and no new parking areas beyond what's already agreed — vehicle traffic is kept to the necessary minimum, and driving onto the landing field itself isn't allowed. Organized events that go beyond normal flying, like competitions or open days, aren't permitted either.
Launch & conditions
The launch and run-up path must be completely obstacle-free — tree stumps are cleared before flying starts. Tandem flights need at least 10 km/h of headwind, given the relatively flat terrain, and safety distance from the nearby motorway must be maintained.
Getting there & local rules
Only the agreed parking options may be used — no new parking areas, and vehicle traffic is kept to the necessary minimum. Driving onto the landing field itself isn't allowed.
Local rules & hazards

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Nuttlar Sengenberg, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Nuttlar Sengenberg with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
