Obere Kalle Startplatz

Obere Kalle Startplatz is the upper of two closely spaced launches above the Alpsee ski area near Immenstadt in the Allgäu, sitting at about 1,210 m and flown best in a northerly wind. Like its lower neighbor, it's reached by riding the Alpsee-Bergbahn cable car rather than hiking, and pilots need a short local briefing before their first flight from here. The launch shares its hillside with an active ski lift, so flying is limited to the lift's normal operating hours. Landings are at the Alpsee Skizirkus field, where the B308 federal road runs close enough to the approach path that it must be crossed with solid height in hand. It's a convenient, lift-accessed local hill rather than a big-mountain site, and a sensible choice for pilots who want an easy, well-signposted flight near Immenstadt.

Local rules & hazards

Flying is only allowed during the ski lift's normal operating hours, roughly 8:30–16:30, with the permitted flight area shown on info boards at the site. The B308 road south of the landing field must be cleared with at least 150 m of height.
