Untere Kalle Startplatz

Untere Kalle Startplatz sits above the Alpsee ski area near Immenstadt in the Allgäu, at roughly 1,210 m and best flown in a northerly wind. It's a lift-served launch on the shoulder of the Alpsee-Bergbahn ski resort, with pilots riding the mountain railway up rather than hiking. Because the takeoff shares the hill with a working ski lift, flying is restricted to the lift's normal operating hours, and a briefing is required before any flight here — a short local orientation rather than formal instruction. Pilots land at the Alpsee Skizirkus landing field below, where a stretch of the B308 federal road crosses close to the approach and has to be cleared with real margin. It's a straightforward, well-marked local hill best suited to pilots comfortable flying near infrastructure and a public road, rather than a wilderness mountain flight.
