This former military air base at Neubiberg, just south of Munich, is used today as a groundhandling site rather than a flying launch — a big, open former runway makes for reliable wing-handling practice. Depending on which way the wind is blowing, pilots use either the east or west part of the runway, which keeps the site workable across a wide range of directions.
