Where it is

Reichenbach is a practice slope above the village of the same name in the Taunus, at around 470 m facing south to southwest, well suited to ground-handling and slope training. Flying is limited to between 8:00 and 20:00, and no more than 15 pilots are allowed on the hill at once. Reaching the launch and landing means walking in from Reichenbach village — driving up or parking on the field and forest paths isn't allowed, and the farm path below the launch has to stay clear of walkers and vehicles before anyone launches, since flights must never endanger people using it. Farm crops, green spaces and the paths themselves must not be damaged by flying activity, and the area needs to be kept litter-free. Because two nearby airfields, Riedelbach and Oberems, share the surrounding airspace, the site operator checks in with each of them before flying starts for the day, and pilots pay particular attention to Riedelbach's circuit pattern on its southern side.

Launch & conditions

A practice slope well suited to ground-handling. Flying is capped at 15 pilots at a time between 8:00 and 20:00, and launches only happen once the farm path below the launch is clear of walkers and vehicles.

Getting there & local rules

Reach the launch and landing on foot from Reichenbach village — no driving or parking on the field and forest paths.

Local rules & hazards

Two nearby airfields, Riedelbach and Oberems, share the surrounding airspace, so flying is coordinated with them before each day's operations, and pilots watch for Riedelbach's circuit pattern on its southern side. Farm crops, green spaces and paths must not be damaged.

Check conditions before you fly

A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Reichenbach, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Reichenbach with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
