Where it is
Schleppstrecke Linde NO–SW is one of four winch-tow routes on this site near Berlin, flown on northeast or southwest winds from around 45 m, entirely across agricultural land that has to stay low-growing for towing to work. Access is deliberately limited: no more than 10 pilots a day, and flying is capped at just 20 days a year. Two bird-protection concerns shape where and when it can be flown — the European bird sanctuary 'Obere Havelniederung' sits roughly 1.5–2 km to the north and southeast and must never be overflown, and during the breeding season, 28 February to 15 September, the nests of sensitive large birds like white stork and osprey are also off-limits to overflight. Every pilot gets a site and nature-conservation briefing from the operator before their first flight, and a flight log records every pilot's name, date, time, aircraft and flight duration. Any cross-country flight also needs to be documented on a current aerial map with GPS points, and the site operator sends that documentation to the DHV and the state environment agency every year by 31 December.
