Sulzberg

Sulzberg is a walk-and-fly launch in the Inn valley near Brannenburg, Bavaria, close to the Austrian border, flown by the local paragliding and hang-gliding community. Reaching the 1,050 m summit takes about an hour on foot from the hikers' car park near the Gasthof Kogl. The launch itself is the challenge: steep, narrow and short, tucked into a small clearing in the forest, and it needs a genuine northeasterly wind to work — pilots are advised against launching in zero-wind conditions. Evenings often bring good soaring, and the hill also works as an introduction to cross-country thermal flying later in the day. Tandem flights are not flown from here. The landing field sits by the road between Brannenburg and Großholzhausen, marked by a windsock on a barn to the east of the road. Sign the flight log before taking off, and follow whatever conditions are posted at launch and landing.

Steep, narrow, short launch in a forest clearing — needs a real northeasterly wind; zero-wind launches aren't advised. Read the posted instruction boards at both launch and landing before flying, and log your flight beforehand. No tandem flights here.
