Where it is
Trimburg is a north/northwest-facing lane launch above the Saale river, at 287 m, with trees flanking both sides of the launch lane and tree stumps scattered around the steep slope below it — pilots also watch for a power line running at treetop height just under the launch. Guest-flying details are set by the local club's own policy, worth checking before a visit. Launches only happen in a genuine, sufficient headwind, and minimum safety heights over buildings, roads and power lines apply for the whole flight under German air law. If lift doesn't build after launch, the slope has to be left in good time and with enough height to clear both the federal road and the Saale river at the required safety margins on the glide to the landing field — leaving it too late isn't an option here. Tandem flights only go ahead when both pilots have the skills needed for a safe lane launch. Crossing the Saale on the way in, and the landing itself, both call for a healthy safety margin.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Trimburg, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Trimburg with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
