Weiherkopf / Hörnerbahn Startplatz

This is the main, higher launch at Weiherkopf in the Allgäu, sitting at 1,660 m above the Hörnerbahn cable car — a long-running training ground where generations of students have taken their first height flights, on slopes offering up to 500 m of vertical to play with in east wind. Two local flight schools share the operation, so busy days mean plenty of company in the air. The rule that matters most here has nothing to do with flying technique: the landing field down at the valley station gets buried under snow-making equipment and skiers all winter, and the cable car operator flatly forbids using it during that season. Land at the golf-course field instead until the snow clears. Outside winter, the Talstation landing is back in normal use.
