Where it is
Jerbourg is a small soaring site above St. Martin's Parish on Guernsey, launching from a scenic viewpoint at 75 m with wind coming straight in from between 080° and 100° — essentially due east. It's tightly controlled: the site sits inside Class A airspace, so flying happens only with the airport's prior permission, pilots must be Guernsey Paragliding Club members and island residents (or visiting under a GPC member's supervision, pre-registered with the airport, which takes about two weeks to arrange), there's a hard ceiling of 60 m above takeoff, and cross-country flights aren't permitted at all. The launch itself has a quirk: a fence sits right at the edge, so pilots have to inflate the wing and hop it to get airborne, which takes some care, especially with spectators often watching from the viewpoint nearby. The usual landing is a field to the north beside a burned-out old hotel; there's also a bottom landing option, though it isn't recommended.
Launch & conditions
Takeoff faces roughly east (080°–100°) at the viewpoint itself. A fence sits right at the launch edge, so you inflate and hop it to get airborne — take extra care if spectators are nearby.
Getting there & local rules
Park at the Jerbourg Point car park in St. Martin's Parish. Flying requires prior permission from the airport, plus Guernsey Paragliding Club membership and island residency — visiting pilots need a GPC member alongside them and airport pre-registration arranged through the club, which takes about two weeks.
Local rules & hazards
This site sits inside Class A airspace, so flights need the airport's prior permission and a hard ceiling of 60 m above takeoff applies — no cross-country flying is allowed here. The local club expects pilots to be properly registered before flying, given the airspace sensitivity.
Check conditions before you fly
