Where it is
Bergeggi is a southeast-to-southwest coastal launch at 284 m on the Ligurian coast, used for thermal and soaring flying. The road up isn't fully paved, so it's worth taking it slowly on the drive, and since spring 2023 parking right next to the launch is no longer permitted, so plan to leave the car a little further away. Landing on the beach here follows the same seasonal rule as much of this coastline: it's off-limits from 1 May to 1 October each year, which effectively confines beach landings to the cooler months. It's a straightforward, low-altitude option for pilots exploring the soaring sites strung along this stretch of Liguria.
Getting there & local rules
The road up to launch isn't fully paved, so take care on the drive. Since spring 2023, parking close to take-off is no longer allowed.
Local rules & hazards
Landing on the beach is not possible from 1 May to 1 October.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Bergeggi, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Bergeggi with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
