Where it is
Poggio Bustone – Monte Rosato sits above the Rieti valley, a scenic mountain-and-ridge site with genuine flying variety alongside enough nearby attractions — biking, climbing, family activities — to justify a full week's trip. Take-off faces west to southwest, large and safe within that wind window, with trees flanking both sides; local flying clubs run shuttles up to launch year-round whenever conditions are good. Reach the area from Rieti by following signs toward Terni until the Rivodutri/Poggio Bustone turn-off. Rieti's airport sits close enough to need attention, and wind from the northeast through southeast tends to trigger overdevelopment fairly easily in summer, so cloud-watching matters through the day. Landing is very large and safe in any wind direction, and there's even a small bar for drinks and snacks on site during the season.
