Where it is
Rivalba is one of the more obscure entries in the area's site list — only a single flight is documented from here, and even that one left it unclear whether the site has any real cross-country potential. The glide out from launch is notably shallow, so a wing with a solid glide ratio matters if thermals don't show up to help. As of January 2025, the hilltop launch behind Rivalba hadn't been used by anyone in at least a decade; its current status is unknown, and it's likely under cultivation and unusable for much of the year. The landing, by contrast, is straightforward — a big, easy field right next to the local road. Airspace is strict here: the upper limit is 1,067 m AMSL, respected carefully because of traffic approaching Caselle airport overhead. This is a site for pilots who already know the area and want to explore something rarely flown, not a reliable go-to.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Rivalba, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Rivalba with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
