Where it is
Honeymoon is a ridge-soaring site above Hurricane, Utah, sitting about ten miles down the same ridge line as the well-known Molly's launch, but with a much quicker turnaround between flights. It's a drive-up site reachable by 4WD, and pilots can typically be back at launch within about ten minutes of landing, which makes it a good choice for stacking multiple flights in a session rather than a one-and-done outing. The launch sits at roughly 1,300 metres and works with west to northwest winds, close to the Utah–Arizona border. Landing is at a small clearing right next to the access road, keeping the whole loop — fly, land, drive back up — tight and efficient. The main condition to watch is gustiness: the site is exposed enough that wind gusts are the primary hazard noted here, so it rewards a cautious read of the wind before committing to launch, especially given the remote, high-desert terrain around it.
Launch & conditions
4WD drive-up launch about ten miles down the ridge from Molly's, with a fast roughly ten-minute turnaround between flights — well suited to stacking multiple soaring flights in one session.
Getting there & local rules
From I-15, take US-9 to Hurricane, then follow local roads along the base of the ridge toward the Utah–Arizona border; the launch sits on top of the ridge, reached by a 4WD track that wraps around to it.
Local rules & hazards
Wind gusts are the main hazard at this exposed ridge site — read the wind carefully before launching, particularly given the remote high-desert terrain.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Honeymoon, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Honeymoon with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
