Where it is
Kriegerhorn is a flying site above Lech am Arlberg, one of Austria's best-known ski resorts, with a take-off at 2,142 m working on north-east through east to south-east winds. The launch sits just a few metres south-east of the Kriegerhorn mountain station, so the mountain railway does the climbing for you, and the spacious landing field lies on the south-eastern edge of Lech village itself — a proper valley landing rather than a tight field. It's described locally as an attractive flying area, and the combination of lift-served access, a wide take-off and three workable wind directions makes it an easy site to fit into a day in Lech, whether you're flying as the main event or squeezing it in around other plans.

A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Kriegerhorn, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Kriegerhorn with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
