Where it is
Medraz is a paragliding launch near Fulpmes in Austria's Stubai valley, used mainly as a training hang by a local flying school — its south to southeast takeoff makes it a forgiving, low-key spot to build airtime with an instructor close by. The site sits at just under 1,000 m, modest by Stubai standards, which keeps flights short and manageable rather than exposing beginners to a long descent. Landing is on the southwest edge of Fulpmes itself, an easy walk into the village once you're down. Getting back up to the valley station on foot takes roughly half an hour over about 1.5 km and 100 m of climbing, and in winter a ski bus reportedly covers that stretch instead. One caution worth taking seriously: the site's designated landing zone, Kreuzjoch–Schlick 2000, is described locally as unsuitable for inexperienced pilots, so first-time visitors should check the site's flying-area rules and ideally fly with someone who already knows the pattern before relying on it solo.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Medraz, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Medraz with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
