Schneeberg

Schneeberg is a hike-and-fly area in Lower Austria, launching from around 1,865 m on the north side of the mountain — wind from north, northeast or northwest all work here. Schneeberg is the highest peak in Lower Austria and a long-standing hiking destination, with the historic Schneebergbahn cog railway climbing partway up in summer, so pilots can shorten the approach by rail before hiking the rest of the way to one of several takeoff spots. The site is noted for having many takeoff possibilities and variations rather than one fixed launch, which gives pilots room to pick a line that suits the day's wind and their own fitness for the hike. It's built around effort-in, fly-out: reach a launch on foot (or partly by rail), then work the north-facing terrain down.
