Oetscher

Ötscher is a chairlift-served launch in Lower Austria at about 1,497 m, good for thermals, ridge soaring, cross-country flying and reached on foot for pilots who'd rather hike than ride up. Wind here works from the north, west and northwest. Getting to the takeoff is straightforward: a chairlift runs up to it, with paragliding passengers paying a combined launch-and-landing fee in the tens of euros. The landing field, Oetscherwiese, has one hard boundary worth knowing before you fly here: only the northeastern part of the meadow is open for landing. The larger southwestern section belongs to a different landowner who strictly forbids landing on that ground, and the property line between the two is clearly visible from the air. A second landing area at Weitental is also described for this site. A well-connected mountain launch, but respecting exactly where the landing field ends matters here.
