Monte Generoso – 1600

Monte Generoso sits above Lake Lugano in Ticino, a thermal, soaring and cross-country site with two launches to choose from: one near the summit facing south, the other lower down facing southwest, where pilots should expect crosswind from the right on that side. It's also worth the trip for reasons beyond flying — the summit building, designed by architect Mario Botta, reopened in recent years and draws its own visitors. Access is by the reopened cog railway from Riva San Vitale up to the mountain. Two landing options give some flexibility depending on where the day takes you: one near the Riva San Vitale train station, the other near Mendrisio, by the outlet shopping center.
