Where it is
Tremezzo–Crocione–Bellagio is a hike-and-fly site above Lake Como, and one of the more scenic walk-up launches in Lombardy — the flight takes you straight over the lake toward Bellagio on the far shore. Pilots start from the top of Monte Crocione, with an option to continue a little further to Monte Tremezzo for extra height, then fly across the water rather than following a road or ridge, which is what makes the site memorable. Getting to launch and back takes some planning: the approach is on foot from Tremezzo, and most pilots use the lake ferries to close the loop, either parking at the start of the trail and ferrying back, or parking at Bellagio and taking the boat over before the walk up. Landing is on a long grass strip on the Bellagio side, a former small airfield, with the approach normally made facing west. It's a site for pilots comfortable crossing open water and improvising around ferry timetables, not for a first flight.
Launch & conditions
Launch from the top of Monte Crocione; pilots looking for a little extra altitude before flying continue on foot to Monte Tremezzo instead.
Getting there & local rules
Reach the site on foot via the marked path from Tremezzo. Most pilots either park at the trailhead in Tremezzo and take the ferry back from Bellagio, or park in Bellagio and cross by ferry before starting the walk up. The landing is a long grass strip on the Bellagio side, a former small airfield, with the approach usually made facing west — watch for tall trees near the strip and a power line crossing its western edge.
Local rules & hazards
Avoid flying with a northerly wind here, and keep an eye on the sky in spring and summer, when thunderstorms over the lake can build very quickly.
